Google Play Ratings Changes August 2019

In May 2019 Google announced the way ratings were calculated on the Google Play Store was going to change.
Milena Nikolic, an engineering director at Google Play console said “You told us you wanted a rating based on what your app is today, not what it was years ago, and we agree,” at the Google I/O Developer conference.
When the changes were introduced in August 2019 there were some positive changes for some apps:
positive app ratings over time graph
An some not so positive changes for other apps:
negative app ratings over time graph
As you can see there were some bouncing around of data as it was being rolled out.
This means your new releases and updates are more important than ever. “It will better reflect all your hard work and improvements,” touted Nikolic.
We highly recommend connecting your Google Play Console account to Appbot to get both the public view and the console view of your ratings as demonstrated below.
