Markdown Guide for Free Text Widgets

Create delicious formatting for your free text widgets in Appbot with simple Markdown syntax.

Headings

To create a heading, add one to six # symbols before your heading text. The number of # you use will determine the size of the heading.
Input this:

# The largest heading
## The second largest heading
###### The smallest heading

To output this:

The largest heading

The second largest heading

The smallest heading

You can indicate emphasis with bold and/or italic.

Style Syntax Example Output
Bold ** ** or__ __ **This is bold text** This is bold text
Italic * * or _ _ *This text is italicized* This text is italicized
Bold and italic ** ** and _ _ **This text is _extremely_ important** This text is extremely important

 

Quoting text

You can quote text with a >.

In the words of Abraham Lincoln:
> Pardon my French

Pardon my French

 

Links

You can create an inline link by wrapping link text in brackets [ ], and then wrapping the URL in parentheses ( ).
Eg.

This widget is comin' atcha via [Appbot Dashboards](https://app.appbot.co/dashboards/new).

This widget is comin’ atcha via Appbot Dashboards.

Lists

You can make a list by preceding one or more lines of text with - or *. You can create nested lists by indenting lines by two spaces, like this:

- Appbot plan sizes 
  - Small
  - Medium
  - Large
  - Premium
  • Current Google Play version released on 1/10/2016
    • Fixed bugs for Chromecast
  • Previous Google Play version released on 1/12/2015
    • Added support for Chromecast

To order your list, precede each line with a number.

Paragraph breaks

You can create a new paragraph by leaving a blank line between lines of text.
