Your Data and AI in Appbot: Frequently Asked Questions

At Appbot, we take the security and privacy of your data seriously, especially when it comes to using artificial intelligence (AI) and generative artificial intelligence (genAI). This FAQ explains how and where we use AI, what data is (and isn’t) shared, and the principles we follow to ensure our AI usage is ethical, secure, and transparent.

Does Appbot use AI?

Yes. Appbot uses internally trained machine learning models for sentiment analysis and topic clustering. Additionally, Appbot integrates with OpenAI’s API to generate AI-powered reply suggestions.

What data is shared with third-party AI providers?

Only the minimum necessary data is shared with OpenAI to generate AI replies, such as the original customer review text. No personally identifiable information (PII), access credentials, or metadata beyond the review content is sent to OpenAI.

Is customer data used to train AI models?

  • Our internal models are trained on anonymized and aggregated data where applicable.
  • Appbot does not opt in to such data sharing for third party APIs such as Open AI.

Where AI / Machine Learning is used, how do you ensure it respects the Asilomar AI Principles?

We use the OpenAI API with a strong focus on ensuring compliance with the Asilomar AI Principles:

  1. Transparency: We clearly inform users where AI is used and log AI-driven decisions for accountability.
  2. Human Oversight: AI outputs undergo human review where ethical concerns arise.
  3. Privacy: We prioritize user data security and comply with data protection standards like GDPR.
  4. Continuous Improvement: We regularly monitor and update our AI models to ensure fairness and minimize risks.
  5. Responsible Use: Our AI applications are designed to benefit users and society while avoiding harm.

This ensures our AI usage aligns with the Asilomar AI Principles.
